ENGLAND RED ALERT
Merseyside Police release first riot CCTV images of youths they believe were involved
MERSEYSIDE Police last night released the first CCTV pictures of youths they believe were involved in rioting in south Liverpool this week.
Our images show youths suspected of being engaged in acts of serious public disorder on Smithdown Road on Tuesday night.
Officers are currently sifting through thousands of images and more are to be released.
Detective Chief Inspector Neil Bickley, from the Force Major Incident Team, said: “The images show youths involved in serious disorder on Smithdown Road on Tuesday night, which involved attacks on the emergency services and criminal damage caused to property belonging to members of the community.
“What we are really after is names to those faces so we can take the appropriate action and arrest those responsible for the violence.
“This investigation is going to be very thorough. Releasing these images will show the community that people who engage in these kinds of activities will be found and punished.
“We also hope that they act as a deterrent. The message is clear. If you are involved in this type of criminal activity on our streets, we will use every means available to us to find you and we will come knocking on your door.”
